Weddings in the foothills

We design wedding flowers for Nevada City, Grass Valley, and the Gold Country foothills — much of it grown on our own farm in Nevada City, the rest sourced from California growers we trust. Seasonal, foam-free, and built around what's at its peak the week you marry.

There are two ways to work with us: full service, where we design, deliver, install, and break down the whole day; and à la carte, where you order the pieces you need and collect them from the studio.

What it costs

Every wedding is quoted on its own. Here is where ours begin, and where the ones we've done around the foothills tend to land.

Full service

- Weddings start at $3,500

- Most full-service weddings we design in the foothills land between $5,000 and $10,000

- Larger weddings — more guests, multiple installations, a room designed end to end — run $20,000+

À la carte

- Order individual pieces from the same price list below — bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, ceremony pieces

- Designed in our studio and ready for pickup at 313 Commercial Street, or local delivery

- À la carte orders start at $2,000; you (or your planner) handle placement on the day

What moves the number

The venue. A lawn at the Stone House and the hall at Miners Foundry are different jobs, and they take different days to install.

Scope and design. The ceremony on its own, or the ceremony and every table, bar, and doorway on the way to it.

Guest count. Tables set the floor of any reception number, so going from 80 guests to 160 is felt here more than anywhere else.

The season. What is at peak the week you marry is both the best value and the best looking. Because so much of ours is grown here, your date decides a lot of the design. A flower flown in out of season costs more and travels worse.

Piece by piece

What individual pieces cost, so you can picture where your own wedding might land before we talk. Full-service weddings also include the consultation, the mood board and proposal, and setup and breakdown on the day. Labor, delivery, and cleanup are added at 25% of the subtotal. À la carte pickup orders add a 15% design & packaging fee instead — every piece is designed in the studio and packed to travel.

Ready for your own number?

Start with your date and venue. If it's open, we'll talk it through and send an itemized

proposal.

What happens, and when

Before you book

1. Check your date. Tell us your date and venue and we'll confirm it's still open. Availability is the first thing we check.

2. The consultation. If your date is open, we sit down to learn your venue, vision, palette, and guest count. It's free and there's no obligation; we both want to know it's the right fit.

3. Proposal & a held date. When it feels mutual, we build a custom proposal with a mood board, itemized estimate, and seasonal sourcing plan. We hold your date for 7 days while you review.

4. Signed and secured. A signed agreement and a non-refundable retainer, applied toward your balance, secure your date in full.

Once you're booked

5. Refinement. As your final count, layout, and timeline settle, we refine the design and lock the stem list around what's at peak that week. Your remaining balance is due 60 days before the wedding.

6. Delivery, setup & install. We grow, source, and design in the days before, then deliver, set, and install on-site, coordinating with your venue and planner.

7. Repurposing and cleanup. After the ceremony we can move pieces from the aisle to the reception, and at the end of the night our team returns for the full breakdown.

(À la carte orders skip the consultation and proposal steps — send us your piece list and date, and we'll confirm and quote it.)

Questions

How far in advance should I reach out?

For popular summer and fall Saturday dates at venues like the National Exchange Hotel, Miners Foundry, and the Stone House, reach out 12–18 months in advance. Peak dates go first. If your date is closer, ask anyway — we'll tell you honestly what's available, and mid-week and off-season dates open up more often.

What flowers will be available for my date?

Spring (March–May): ranunculus, anemones, sweet peas, tulips, peonies, lilac, fritillaria, clematis, and flowering branches

Summer (June–August): garden roses, dahlias, lisianthus, cosmos, delphinium, scabiosa, snapdragons

Fall (September–November): dahlias at their peak (café au lait especially), spider mums, celosia, amaranthus, late garden roses, rose hips

Winter (December–February): hellebores, anemones, ranunculus late in the season, camellia, acacia, citrus branches, protea

Your proposal is built around what's at its peak on your date — a good share of it from our own farm beds. If you have your heart set on something out of season, we'll tell you early and show you what we'd use instead.

Can you work with my existing coordinator or planner?

Yes, always. Planners are looped in from the proposal stage so timeline, logistics, and setup are coordinated.

What happens if a flower doesn't come in, or the weather turns?

We plan for it long before your date. Every wedding is over-sourced, and because we grow a share of our own flowers, a shipment that arrives short rarely changes a design. Your bouquet and ceremony pieces are built with backups on hand. A wedding day has no do-overs. We plan like it.

Do you travel outside Nevada County?

Yes — we work across the Gold Country foothills and the Sierra, and our sister studio, Golden Flowers, designs weddings throughout Lake Tahoe and Truckee. Travel outside our primary service area may involve a travel fee, included in your proposal.

Why does it matter that you're foam-free?

Floral foam is plastic-based, sheds microplastics, and never biodegrades. We build with reusable mechanics instead. It takes more skill; we've invested in that skill. Your flowers look better for it and leave less impact on the place you love.

What makes you different?

Three things. The people: the team that designs your flowers is the team that shows up to set them, and Brittany — an artist and an agronomist — is heavily involved in every wedding. The farm: we grow on our own land in Nevada City and design around what California grows best that week. The planning: we intentionally take fewer weddings than most studios, so yours gets weeks of sourcing and design work instead of a slot on a production line.
